Pregnancy with hypothyroidism

I think I am pregnant again!!! I thought with hypothyroidism I would be less fertile and we are diligent about taking precautions. I don\\\'t know for sure, but I have been through this five times before. Does anyone know anything that needs to be done with being hypothoid if I do turn out to be pregnant? Are there any risks? My last baby I didn\\\'t know anything about the disease since I had just been diagnosed. Please, any advice would be very much welcomed.

First let me say I have never been pregnant but am planning on it soon. My Endo told me that he would need to monitor my levels very closely as the baby grows since your hormone levels fluctuate. There is a real risk to the baby of developmental disabilities if your thyroid levels go too low. As long as your levels are monitored and your meds modified as needed you and your baby should be fine.

hey!! huge congrats to start!!!
i am trying at the moment and had concerns before we started to try so went to see my doctor. he said just make sure you take thyroxine and i will just have to be monitored a bit more closely then normal as thyroxine dies flucuate. try not to read up on it too much cuz there are lots of horror stories out there. my doc advised that this is usually due to undiagnosis or insufficent treatment so as long as you are taking the correct dose then there should be no probs!!! if you think about the fluctuation, people who do not have underactive thyroid this also happens to aswell so just because you have doesnt mean it will be bad!!
