I came to this forum community in early 2013 feeling Horribly ill and not really knowing what was going on with my body. I went to doctor after doctor looking for health answers. Little did I know at the time that most doctors would be clueless about what I was dealing with. I became so ill that I had to leave my medical office job. I started doing tons and tons of my own research on adrenal fatigue/hypoglycemia, Hashi's/hypothyroidism, celiac disease. Little by little I gathered more information and I started piecing the puzzle pieces together. Finally, in the Fall of 2013 I found a Dr that ran the 'helpful' thyroid tests and checked several vitamins/mineral levels and at that point was started on thyroid treatment. I still wasn't getting well after months of treatment. Then I learned about Celiac and adrenal fatigue being part of my thyroid troubles. So around Fall of 2014 I addressed my diet. I went gluten free. This definitely helped me, but then I had to take it a step further and removed dairy and grains from my diet--Huge help!! At this time I also had a Functional med doctor test my Reverse T3 since I was continually having low Free T3 results even with being on NDT thyroid meds. Yep, very high RT3 results. So I first added in slow-release T3 to my now reduced dose of NDT med to help clear the RT3 from my body. This did help remove the RT3, along with addressing adrenal health and low iron/ferritin. But I still wasn't feeling as good as I though I should be on this treatment plan. I then asked my GP to let me try T3 Liothyronine medication. Wow, this made a big improvement in my thyroid health! Turns out my body needed this direct T3. The slow-release just wasn't getting enough in me at once I don't think.

So I just wanted to come and share my thyroid/health journey (in a nutshell!) with you all and let you know that I am doing much better than I was. I do not feel 'great' but I feel soooo much better than I was feeling. I am beyond thankful for a doctor that finally heard my cry for help. Still didn't find a doctor that would help address adrenal issues, but I did much studying and worked on that area myself. I am thankful to God for helping me through this difficult time! Now I am trying to help pay it forward by helping others with similar health issues. My mom and sister have been most supportive and stood by me through the rough patches. For that I am truly grateful. And to all members here, thank you for all your support, advice, and encouragement!! Keep pressing forward!!
