I really need advice.
I have had hasimotos hypothroidism my whole life.
About a month ago, my family dr ran the routine thyroid tests. My tsh was 4.92.
He changed me from 75mcg levothyroxine to 100mcg synthroid cause he said brand is more consistent.
Anyway, in about a month I started having bad anxiety, crying spells and missed heartbeats or palpitations.
I was so miserable that I got in to my old endocrinologist.
She tested my tsh and said it was 0.72.
She also said that could cause my symptoms of anxiety that the medicine might be too strong. She reduced it to 88mcg
She tested my tsh three weeks later, and now it is 1.32.
But, I am having the nervousness and crying spells again.
I have tried to call her all weekend but can't get through.
I talked to another family dr that I used to go to and he said to quarter the 88mcg till I can get in Monday.
Can thiss medicine do this? Are ssome people more ssensitive to the doses?
Also, do you have to go to an endocrinologist for thyroid care?

It could be that your body is adjusting to the switch or that your body does not agree with the medication at all. I will post this link to an article by a Mary Shomon that you can look at that will give you some insight on findings regarding FDA approved thyroid medication. Again, some people do ok and others like myself didn't do well at all. An endocrinologist would be the doctor to see. Hopefully one with an open mind and is willing to try what is best for you. I thought that with a diagnosis of Hashi's that the doc would have insisted on a referral to endocrinology. Anyway, I hope you start feeling better soon!

I decided to see an endocronologist because that is their specialty. any old doctor might not realize that reducing your dosage right before you are about to have your TSH measured is stupid. Your TSH was not alarmingly low;your body is going through an adjustment phase. don't freak.
Just try to relax and know that this will pass; any further treatment if I was you would be through an endocrinologist only. Just my opinion.
