I had really bad numbness in my arms and my hands. It has gone away since being properly medicated.

I had that before my levels were optimized.

I have it quite badly in my left foot and then up my right leg. Those places are constant, and it can get to the point where it's quite painful... not just numbness and tingling, but burning pain and shooting electric shock type pains.... so I guess it's neuropathy, not just paresthesia. I do get just the tingling and numbness in my hands that comes and goes as well. My foot and leg, however, that is constant. And any time I mention it to ANY doctor I get an order to go for an EMG. I'm really not interested in having needles shoved in my muscles and zapped... I've read people's experiences with EMGs before I made an appt and some said they'd rather go through childbirth again. So that was the end of that idea, not doing it. I did a rheumatologist a few months back who didn't automatically jump to the EMG- she wanted me to see a neurologist. But that never happened because then my current insane symptoms started. So I don't know if the leg/foot stuff is related to my thyroid or what- I do know it's NOT related to diabetes as that's been ruled out by two docs (I see a podiatrist regularly who I really trust), which is good.

I never considered it could be related to my thyroid until this discussion. I may never know... I also have this very rare skin condition (necrobiosis lipoidica) over one of the numb areas on my leg and it feels similar to the leg stuff so that's even more fun! Lucky me! And again, they have no idea why people get this skin condition (only that diabetics and those with rheumatoid arthritis get it- but not why one patient does and another doesn't) and they have no treatments and certainly no cure. It looks disgusting... I'm 30 years old and I now dread spring and summer because I feel like everyone is staring at my gross leg spots. I was told it wouldn't spread, but it recently got much worse. Right in time for spring... nice.

Jenn, I too get burning and electric shock sensations, but in my chest area. I have had that off and on for years!! Hate it. I was Dx with chronic costochondritis back around 2002 (way before my thyroid Dx). I know I have malabsorption troubles so makes me wonder if it could be connected to vitamin/mineral deficiencies. Not sure!! Plus I'm not optimal with thyroid and adrenals yet.

I've gotten the pins and needles. Mine was from a B vitamin deficency. I think it was B12??? Don't remember right now.

yes I had it a couple of months ago on my right foot.was so wierd.I thought the floor was vibrating.then I thought a cell phone was touching my foot when I was laying down.for me,it just felt like a cell phone was taped to the bottom of my foot and was vibrating.It lasted a few weeks and went away.I never mentioned it to the dr as i forgot.

I had it in my hands, fingers, arms, legs and feet for about 6 months. I was so scared because the doctors didn't know what was causing it. Five years later, I was diagnosed with hypothyoidism.

I have this also. Year ago it started with just buzzing in my legs and feet then the last 4 months I started getting random numbness in my feet, toes and sometimes my hands. Now my legs ache and feel week, and my lower back always hurts...Dr's keep telling my my thyroid levels are normal and I wonder if it is something neurological...ms or something...I have health anxiety over this symptom. So comforting to know it is part of hypo symptoms.

Neat you are from Orlando, I am in the central FL area as well. Are you happy with your current Dr? And are your levels 'optimal' not just within ranges?
