What is that?? Nothing like starting our day in a blind panic!
I also get the occasional burning in my feet and a feeling of pins and needles!
I have had the pins & needles thing for years, but it has gotten less frequent and severe since I have been on the thyroid medication and am supplementing with iron.

And, if it's bad enough (hypothyroidism) it can make you appear to have diabetes or "metabolic syndrome" by increasing your triglycerides and cholestrol to such a point that you don't process sugar as you should, raising your A1-C. Which, can result in permanent neuropathy.
I hate that feeling of being jarred awake...rude awakening to be sure.
As for the startling awake - I really wish I could figure out where that's coming from. My suspicions are on the adrenals, but I don't know for sure.

No more melatonin for us...I am trying to find all I can on this subject as my very ill daughter loves melatonin uses it along with thyroid meds and other psychristy meds....yikes....she is a mess..
