I feel your pain. The same thing happened to me. I was forced to find a new doctor. My appointment isn't until the end of January. Good luck.

Have you ever tried asking your endo to treat your symptoms and not your labs?

And, has he ever read the treatment section of the Armour website (or the prescribing information) that indicates Armour is supposed to be taken in doses that will suppress TSH?

Believe it or not, your most recent TSH is actually a bit on the high side for someone taking Armour (or any form of T3).

cd, I have argued with him about listening to ME and not my numbers, he just can't seem to wrap his head around it that I'm a person and not a number!

He also seems quite clueless to any Armour information, he's all about the TSH number and bone density, unfortunately. I will reason with him as best as I can, I'm a lot more clear headed now.

BlueIndy, when you see him, tell him what a great doctor he is for daring to give you enough Armour to make your horrible hypo symptoms go away. When you start on that note, it will be hard for him to back-peddle and lower your dose when it is so clear to you that the reason you've been feeling better is because HE had the insight to give you the dose you need. Docs have HUGE egos and if you feed his ego, he'll be more likely to leave your dose where it is.

I had this problem with my old endo..I actually had on my chart written in her handwriting "patient says she feels so much better" that was when my TSH was below 1.. She decreased my dose anyway..crying BONE DENSITY!! .. and I left after 3 long years..
Then I finally found an endo who prescribes Armour..I though I'd hit the jackpot.. Okay last visit..my TSH was 1.3..he too shouts "OMG it's too low..bone density!!"

We are just a TSH number to them..I even said I am willing to put it in writing..that I will NOT hold him responsible..just let me work my way to a better number..anything below 1 is where I feel better.. Lucky you guys here, that have docs who "get it!"

Are you looking for yet another one? That is really the only way to find one who "gets it".

I don't get why Docs are so worried about the numbers. My Endo told me he doesn't want to see me TSH go below 2! Well Then why does the lab say normat is between .3 - 4.5??? Makes no sense to me.

Hopefully keeska's idea works for you! I just may have to steal it depending on what happens with me but I am still a long way off.

I have an appointment with him on January 6th and totally plan to try keeskas idea. I'll let you all know how that goes.

You might arm yourself with studies that show that low TSH does NOT cause osteoporosis. Just in case.
