I have been on Synthroid for three months now. For a while I was wondering if it made any difference at all?
While showering this morning and shampooing my hair i expected to see the usual handful of hairs as I rinsed. Not this morning though, not a one.
Just wanted people to know that here is hope for the hair loss situation. Now I'm just hoping I get back what I lost.

:) This is good news. I started synthroid about 3 1/2 weeks ago and tapering on it very slowly. The hair loss has been so upsetting to me that I just cut off about 5 inches to make it less noticable. Thanks for your post, it lifted my spirits.

I've been diagnosed and on synthroid since Summer '08. I admit I'm not the most compliant patient. I'm now up to 175mcg and am still experiencing all the symptoms (hair loss, tiredness, low libido, overweight, etc...) I'm trying to do better with taking my meds but think I'm battling with depression too....due to thyroid? Who knows....I'm glad your hair loss seems to have stopped. I look forward to the day I can say the same!!

There are some people who don't convert the T-4 to T-3 (there's only T-4 in a replacement med) They can have depression issues and the ones you described.The doc keeps upping the dose but the symptoms remain. Ask about adding some Cytomel to the mix, if the T-4 med is making your FT4 good but your FT3 is still low.

That is great!! I still have lots of hair loss - so it brings me hope. What is your Free T3?
