Hypothyroidism Support Group
Hypothyroidism is the disease state caused by insufficient production of thyrohormone by the thyroid gland. There are several distinct causes for chronic hypothyroidism, the most common being Hashimoto's thyroiditis and hypothyroidism following radioiodine therapy for hyperthyroidism. Advanced hypothyroidism may cause severe complications, the most serious one of which is...
Adaptogens are wonderful compounds. I wouldn't be concerned about taking one since it can do you no harm. Adaptogens modulate various systems. This means that they help things get balanced.
RLC Labs is the manufacturer of Nature-Throid so, I'd have confidence in their adrenal support product.
For whatever it's worth, A-Drenal also has an adrenal glandular component:

In his book "Your Thyroid and how to keep it healthy", Dr. Barry Durrant-Peatfield addresses the necessity of this level of support when adrenal fatigue is present.
What concerns you with the product?
I guess I'm just nervous about trying a new supplement as this is the first 'adrenal' one for me. I've heard some conflicting thoughts on adaptogens on various thyroid pages. And 2 that are discussed often are Rhodiola and Ashwagandha; both in this formula. Doctor has me doing saliva test today and will mail tomorrow. I'll start A-Drenal tomorrow. Really hoping it helps my low blood sugar and heart palps -- two most bothersome symptoms.
~~ Thanks everyone!
I too have palps..I had an echo last summer..and it turned out to be borderline line mitral valve prolaspse. There's no treatment, I can't take beta-blockers as I have very low bp..
I still get them..I know how it feels..
Keep us posted..
I find that I feel more "even" as a result of taking it.....and it definitely helps me during times of stress. I bump up the dose when I know I'll be dealing with more stress (such as during the holidays).
What have you been hearing about it and ashwagandha?
Adrenal issues *can* cause low blood sugar so, I do hope the supplement helps you.
Palps are most often benign and the state of hypothyroidism is a known cause.
I know my palps came in the form of a pounding heart that felt downright scary sometimes.
I also developed PAC's that I'd notice mostly when relaxing in the evening.
Magnesium can help with palps. I do suggest you research magnesium if you are interested in taking it since there are certain health conditions that would preclude someone from doing so.
