Need info badly about my hypothyroidism

I have had Hashimotos for years, and for years I've been on meds.
Recently, I went to have blood work done and my tsh was 4.92. The last time it was 2 something.
Anyway, I was on levothyroxine .75 and my dr changed it io synthroid 100.
He said it was better than levothyroxine.
Anyway, I am absolutely exhausted, get cold chills/hot, feel nervous, bummed out, ringing in my ears, and muscle pain.
My dr said the low thyroid can cause this and it can take 6-8 weeks to get better.
Can anyone relate?
Also, does it matter if my family dr handles this or do I need an Endocrinologist?

Hi, I was diagnosed with Hashi's very recently, and was put on 60mg Armour. It worked for a few weeks, or at least made me feel much better than i had been, but i've hit a wall somewhere and now feel bad again, with some serious muscle aches/pain, especially on the tops of my shoulders. It might be that I need to go up a dose. With Hashi's , your immune system will continue to attack the thyroid whether or not you are taking meds, so it might have whittled it down to the point where you need more meds. Your family doctor should be okay as long as they know how to deal with thyroid patients. If they seem a bit clueless, then go to an endo.

I've been on synthroid for a little over a year now. I started with .112 and was bumped to .125 in march after a partial thyroidectomy. I felt fine until August when I started feeling the same things you are feeling. My tsh was 5.54 so I was bumped to .150. Within a couple of days I started feeling worse. I was tested again and all numbers were in an acceptable range but I still went back to .125. I still feel crappy but better than I did at .150.

I've had several people tell me that synthroid makes them feel awful despite normal levels.some have switched mess or manufacturers and noticed immediate improvements. I just met a new endo today and hope that trying a med change is a possibility. If you don't feel like your GP is getting it done I would definitely see an endo.

hi, I am on synthroid 188mcg, it depends on how you feel and how well you work with your Dr., I went to and endo for my diabetes but didn't like him, so went back to my Dr. I feel like she works with me. I found it hard to build a trust level. Maybe I got a bad endo though. I hope you feel better soon.

If you have the option of going to an endo, you could try that. I have had Hashi's for many many years and I have always felt like you describe. There are other numbers that an endo will look at. A few years ago my primary care told me my thyroid issues were too complicated and to see an endo, it ended up being a good idea. I was being way over medicated on synthroid and still having hypo symptoms, turns out I also needed some t3 hormone, so I was also started on cytomel. Worked great for several years there after. I have just switched to Armour about 2 weeks ago because the synthroid was making my heart feel fluttery and I was having extreme panic attacks. I haven't had this since starting the Armour.
