Hypothyroidism Support Group
Hypothyroidism is the disease state caused by insufficient production of thyrohormone by the thyroid gland. There are several distinct causes for chronic hypothyroidism, the most common being Hashimoto's thyroiditis and hypothyroidism following radioiodine therapy for hyperthyroidism. Advanced hypothyroidism may cause severe complications, the most serious one of which is...
I would definitely talk to your doctor about your symptoms and inquire as to whether a different med would work or if he/she could recommend morning stretching exercises that might help with your achy muscles.
As regards the aches and pains, they seem to fluctuate in severity. Some days I don't notice any pain then I go thru bouts where I can barely move in the morning. Once I am up and moving about, it usually goes away or at least lessens.
I never once thought to relate this to -- THIS DISEASE!! OH, SO MADE. THIS DAMN DISEASE CAUSES SO MUCH TROUBLE!!!!!
I related this to stress of school, instead. I never know how much stress school causes. I've been told this court reporting is the hardest thing to take that students go home crying EVERY DAY. I feel it's been a breeze for me until I got -- this crappy disease!!
SO, AGAIN, it's probably related to not getting -- T3, DAH!!
The medication that I'm taking has helped some, but not resolving this issue entirely.
My doctor said close to the same thing as yours -- here's your quote -- "he said armour, they dont measure the pigs thyroid just mush it all togrther and everty morning is a guessing game plus they keep changing whaty is in it,"
Since I'm still hurting some days (not all) and have been on levothyroxin for a few months I've decided I want to give Armor a try even though my doctor does not like the idea, so I'm preparing in my mind some of the come backs for my doctor's objections. I was thinking that in answer to the above statement I would say --> they take the thyroids from pigs that have been slaughtered for food. Pigs that are slaughtered for food are young healthy pigs -- which would have young healthy thyroids -- so wouldn't the variances be minimal? In response to " plus they keep changing whaty is in it," I would say --> they had an unannounced change in the filler which was the wrong thing to do. The public was outraged by this and I doubt they would do it again. The CEO of Forest Labs has apologized for it.
I'm also planning to bring up the fact that the thyroid makes more than just T4 (levothyroxine) so if the thyroid isn't functioning it makes sense to attempt to replace all the things the thyroid makes.
Armor does this. Plus if it doesn't work for me I can go back to what I was doing, it's not irreversible.
I'm really playing Devils Advocate in this post. I'm mentally preparing myself for my doctor visit tomorrow.
