Hypothyroidism Support Group
Hypothyroidism is the disease state caused by insufficient production of thyrohormone by the thyroid gland. There are several distinct causes for chronic hypothyroidism, the most common being Hashimoto's thyroiditis and hypothyroidism following radioiodine therapy for hyperthyroidism. Did you build up gradually to the 75 mcg, or is that your starting dose?
How many lab reports have you had, and what were the results of those?
Being hyperthyroid can cause diarrhea and increase in appetite.
Being hypothyroid can cause loss of appetite and water retention with accompanying weight gain. It might even cause heart failure, especially if too much fluid accumulates in the chest cavity, and nausea with too much accumulating in the abdominal cavity.
I can only comment on your new post. Wow, you had surgery and half of your thyroid removed, but yet your labs and appointment are not until April?
I recall that you recently started the 75mg. I think you should have a lab test after 6 wks of starting the 75mg.
You don't have to have a doctor visit, but in my experience waiting to long to get things right, just takes longer to get things right!
Eggs and fish sometimes bother my stomach. I researched it a bit and found, oddly, that they have a common enzyme. When my TSH is high,I don't tolerate either well and will have gas and runs as a result.
best wishes-
So, if you're not nauseous and don't have the runs.....just what *is* going on with your stomach?
How long do the issues last?
And, how long has this been going on?
It makes sense to have labs done before you head to Florida. You've been on the current dose long enough to see just what it's accomplished.
If I remember correctly, your FreeT3 level was on the low side. Your next set of labs might show the need for the addition of a small dose of T3.
Why delay things?
