I think it was good that your doctor raised your Synthroid. Sometimes a 25mcg increase is a lot, and you may have titration side effects. If you aren't able to tolerate the full increase, you could asked to be switched to 88mcg.

Tia - with hypothyroidism we can't simply take a large dosage of synthroid and BAM we're better. The body has to adjust...but slowly and steadily until we're at "optimal". So, that's why we're usually started on a lower dose (25 mcg) and the upped to 37.5 or 50 then gradually brought up to the "optimal dosage". Optimal dosage being symptom free dosage for the individual (nobody's the same).

While we're moving up in dosage some symptoms will appear while others will disappear - and sometimes we have anxiety or "jitters", heart palps, or nausea until our body has time to adjust to that dosage - that's titration affects. And why we say here: Wear the dosage for a while (usually four to six weeks) and see if the symptoms disappear.

Dawnrose is right -Your doctor did the right thing because your Free T3 and Free T4 are scraping the bottom of the ranges and your TSH is waaay too high (it should be one or below). So, you're hypothyroid like a rock-star. Let us know what the next labs look like.

Thanks for the replies. I woke up this morning and took my pill. About 10 minutes later my face broke out in a painful, itchy red rash. It resembles feeling suburned but that isn't happening. Would that be an effect of the increased dose? I did also buy a new facial wash that I used last night before bed but didn't have any problems until this morning. I'm hoping its not an allergic reaction to the synthroid.
