I don't take Cytomel, but I think maybe your anxiety could be caused by titrating a new medication.

I have been doing some more reading & it appears that a really strong source of stress (my mom has been diagnosed with a rare and eventually fatal degenerative disease) can send you right back into Ugly Land..... Also - the dose of Cytomel is not time-release, so I get a massive dose in the morning..... I took matters into my own hands and have cut the pill in half so that I don't ingest it all at once. I am going to contact the doctor tomorrow and see what she suggests. Finally - with all the holiday celebrations, I was not exactly real great with my diet, so this set of symptoms may actually be a migraine - it is hard to distinguish.....

Sorry to hear about your mom. Cutting the pill in half was a good idea. I hope you get it straightened out.

Got some referrals to "functional physicians" that friends have been under the care of with great success. But NONE of them are in network, so before I get my hopes up, I will need to find out how this works with my high deductible plan.

So sad.

The correct care may, in fact, exist, but it may be way out of my budget.

Oh - by the way.... my anxiety level decreased a lot after cutting the pill in half! YAY DR. ME!!!

But I am still really Stupid and Sluggish.... Had a migraine for the past few days.

T3 (Cytomel) is powerful and should always be taken in divided doses. For whatever reason, the prescribing info doesn't mention this but, thyroid-savvy doctors do.

When I first started Cytomel in 2011, my doctor Rx'd it once daily but I knew to split the dose and I'm glad you tried this with success, 54Mariposa.

Unfortunately, we can and do have symptoms after dose adjustments. Current symptoms can worsen, old ones can reappear and new ones can develop. Yuck :(

It all evens out *after* our levels optimize.....and "stick".

Yep, it's a process that no one escapes - blech.

Cytomel is quite strong compared to T4 (Synthroid) about 4 times stronger. Same thing happened to me in the beginning. You did exactly right by cutting back your dose. Give yourself time to adjust to the medicine. After a while you'll be able to increase your dose without any consequences. I originally started on only 5 mcg 3X a day. Then I went up to 25 mcg which I broke in half and took one half in the AM and one half in the afternoon. Then I went to 12.5 mcg 3X a day. Now I am taking 25 mcg 3X a day with no negative consequences. You just have to Titrate slowly over time. It helps with the fatigue and feeling tired. Now I have to figure out how to lose the weight. Good Luck and don't give up, Cytomel is an excellent medication. I take mine along with dessicated thyroid 60 mg 3X a day.
