1. Still take your prescribed medications to support your thyroid ON AN EMPTY STOMACH with water only.  Do not eat or drink anything 30-60 after.  However, if you're taking natural dessicated thyroid medication, take at night I've read is best.

2.  Take vitamins; daily multivitamin, selenium, zinc, Omega-3 fish oil (at lunchtime so as not interfere with your thyroid medication).

3. Learn to do yoga  research, "yoga for thyroid" or, follow a woman on social media named Fern Olivia who has a thyroid condition & treated it naturally with yoga.  

4. reduce your stressors.  Give upl gluten, caffeine, sugar, alcohol, etc.

6. If you consume gluten, cut it out of your diet ASAP.  Gluten is a bonding agent and think about the antibodies which attack your thyroid as a foreign invader.  Where do they come from and how do they think your thyroid is a foreign invader?  Well, when you eat things which aren't good for you, the thyroid works double time to try and clear them out of your system as well as raise your body temperature, etc. and, it gets attacked.  That's my layman interpretation. 

7. If you consume sugar, is highly advisable to curb this as well.  Is easier said than done however, when/once you break the cycle and addiction to sugar, you'll almost hate it and/or feel terrible if/when you do.  I know me, when I have sugar, it is almost toxic these days whereas before, I could consume 16oz. of M&Ms no problem.

8. Alkalize your body.  Via; lemons, citrus fruit/water infusion.

9. Get PLENTY of rest.  No television a few hours prior to bed.  How many of us would stay up to watch the nightly news?  Well, when you watch the news what happens?  You become sick about all the; fires, deaths, shoot ups, bank robberies, abductions, terrible news about either the POTUS or the previous one or the loser of the election, etc.  wars, etc.  Ugh.  Exactly what you do NOT need to hear or watch.

10. Show yourself some COMPASSION.  No negative self-talk.  No, "I'm fat" or, "I forget everything" or, "I'm stupid", etc.  Instead, tell yourself, "you're beautiful, you mean something to this world, everyone loves you, you're smart, you can do it, etc."

This all sounds like some new-age hog wash probably to some but, the thyroid is a part of the physiological makeup and, what you think, you become.  Looking back to the tragedy of my illness, everything terrible that could happen, did.  Lost more things than I care to even bring up being it was MEANT for me to lose them to become who I've become.   The person I am meant to be.  One who's; intelligent, handsome, witty, great demeanor, compassionate, forgiving, patient, loving, trusting.

What has this to do with the thyroid page?  Well, a lot actually.  What we think, we become.  When we feel sluggish and/or depressed, we exasperate those situations with our thoughts and then they become reality.

I was moved to post this after seeing some things which were not even so much positive not so much here on the DS page but, other support groups and/or social media posts about the sky is falling..

The sky is NOT falling.  You are GETTING BETTER.  Take one day at a time.  Let go of the past.  Don't worry about tomorrow.  Enjoy the now.  If is sunny, take a walk.  If is cold, bundle up and take a walk.  If is rainy, bring an umbrella and take a walk.  Have holes in your shoes, line the inside with a plastic bag, etc.

When we give excuses, we give reasons to not accomplish our life's purpose.   

I hope me writing this post does two things.  One, it made me feel better to do.  Second, I hope that one person reading it finds some solace and/or ideas to improve their situation.  Input/additional ideas are welcomed and encouraged also.
