I have hypothyroidism and I am obese. I was wondering if you have hypothyroidism does that mean you have low cortisol levels, high cortisol levels, or cortisol isn't an issue for people with hypothyroidism? Also, if you have higher levels of cortisol, can something be done to correct the issue (ie; meds etc)?
I hope you are on the right dose of medication. If you aren't you won't lose weight. Are you currently taking medication?

I've been doing much research on cortisol and also finding there are two schools of thought on this. Seems like traditional DR's only treat cortisol when it becomes a true disease either Hashi(low) or Cushings (high). The other school of thought is cortisol levels can be off and should be treated BEFORE it becomes an actual disease.
There are two ways to test for it is blood testing and Saliva testing. Again there are two schools of thought on this testing as well. Not all DR's believe in the saliva testing.
For me, I had low cortisol levels when tested by blood. They had me do a cortisol stimulation test which came back normal meaning my adrenals responded normally to an injection of cortisol. I went to a more natural type DR and he ordered saliva testing. I will have those results in a few weeks. There are sites you can actual order your own saliva testing for your own piece of mind.
It is my understanding though that if your cortisol is off that needs to be treated as it can impact treatment of thyroid.
