I've had Hashimoto's for 22 years. For most of this time it has been manageable with Synthroid and later the generic form. My dose has changed numerous times thru the years, as expected.
But the last few years I am chronically tired. It has gotten worse the last few months. I take ton's of vitamens, and keep changing them around as I see something that might work better.
Here's my question (finally,lol), I started taking a multi vit that contains 150 mcg of iodine and contains 25 mg of Calcium.. I take another supplement that contains lots of Calcium.
Yesterday when I finally read the info that comes with my thyroid med, it stated that calcium supplements can block absorbtion of the thyroid med if taken within 4 hours together.
The last four months have been the absolute worst for me since I started these two NEW supplements. I was wondering if anyone else knows about interactions, such as iodine and calcium??????

Calcium will interfer with the thryoid working to its full extent. I switched to taking all vitamins in the evening, what a difference a lot more energy within a couple of days. Heard about it on Thyroid Chat Center, great site.

I'm still wondering about the iodine that is in my multi? Is there any contraindication between Hypo Thyroid and iodine supplements?
Also, how do I find out about this Thyroid Chat Center?

I also quit all supplements (at any time) and my thyroid has improved.
