I used to be a marathon runner - I ran six-ten miles per day - every day.
Once my life began to change and my health slipped, besides the pain -the biggest thing I dealt with was what felt like my "shrinking life".
I had to shift my perception from a "smaller life" with less possibilities to my "ideal life" with alterations. Meaning, no I could no longer run, but on a good day I might be able to walk. If not walk, I could at least stretch.
My dreams were also altered. I was an adrenaline junkie. So instead of thinking I could hang glide or ride a zip line, I had to adjust my dreams to: "If I manage this right, and get good treatment, I can go and watch others do those things."
It is what it is...
Again, I have "other issues" some of them disabling/deadly, so Hashi's is way down on this list of "serious issues" for me. I have SLE and when it flares, I need reminding that this is not a curse or a punishment, but simply "life as I know it".
