Ignore family. They don't get it because they can't "see" it. If it's extended family members just tell you have cancer. They'll get it then. ;) Or just say, "I have a disease that makes me want to kill you" and they'll leave you alone ;)
Just a personal message: My family is rife with this - and an elderly family member told me about a great-great-great-uncle who absolutely had hypothyroidism (swollen neck - all that) and spent 25 years in bed with intractable pain and hallucinations. That's truly morbid. Family tried to care for him, according to relative, but he was inconsolable. That, to me, is the very definition of hell.
There ARE things they can do today to eliminate this problem - I truly thing you're close to getting treatment...then you can tell your family to shove it and go deer hunting. (or do as I used to and go deer hunting so you can sit in the woods alone and drink beer perfectly free of criticism).
I feel your pain. Isolation is one way of dealing with this crap, I've done it, not the best way but an option.
You need to put as much energy into getting treated properly with appropriate amounts of meds, you will the feel differently, your life will change almost completely. What MB says is all so true but we dont need to live that way today with proper treatment and meds, and of course, the right doctor.
