Hypothyroidism Support Group
Hypothyroidism is the disease state caused by insufficient production of thyrohormone by the thyroid gland. There are several distinct causes for chronic hypothyroidism, the most common being Hashimoto's thyroiditis and hypothyroidism following radioiodine therapy for hyperthyroidism. Advanced hypothyroidism may cause severe complications, the most serious one of which is...
Here's your labs:
Free T4 62.86% of range
Free T3 32.22% of range
I suspect your Free T4 and Free T3 are both too low, but I'd increase one before the other. I'd increase Free T4 if I were you.
Why did you stop your cytomel?
Since Cytomel is T3 ONLY medication - it's not going to help your TSH much...and if you look at your Free T3...it's super low.
Once you get diagnosed, TSH doesn't help at all in treating the patient because once you're diagnosed, it's a quality of life issue.
No, I"m not a doctor but I've dealt with this particular problem for YEARS. And it wasn't until I optimized my thyroid levels (Free T3/Free T4) that I actually felt myself again.
I don't doubt that you're sad - I'd feel horrible with your levels.
It's easy to figure your own percent of range - just do this:
Look at your actual lab work and get the range and result (as you listed above) then work this simple calculation:
(The Result minus Bottom of the Range) divided by (Top of the range minus Bottom of the range) equals Percent of Range
Like so (look at your Free T4 listing)
T4,FREE 1.20 ng/dL 0.76-1.46
So, that's (1.2-.76 = .44) divided by ( 1.46-.76=.7) equals .628 or 62.8%
