Hypothyroidism Support Group
Hypothyroidism is the disease state caused by insufficient production of thyrohormone by the thyroid gland. There are several distinct causes for chronic hypothyroidism, the most common being Hashimoto's thyroiditis and hypothyroidism following radioiodine therapy for hyperthyroidism. Advanced hypothyroidism may cause severe complications, the most serious one of which is...
I just did a panel thru Life Extension. It was for the female labs, but apparently considered the basic. It included:
Testosterone - free & total
DHEA-Sulfate
Estradiol
Progesterone
I am in menopause and don't know if there are others, if you are sill ovulating.
Wishing you well, yes, we are all hormonal! Duh, that's what the thyroid does...I have decided from now on there will be no stigmas attached due to having a hormonal imbalance.

As far as my doc is concerned, that will just confirm what he already believes. I have an adrenal issue (cortisol), which is the stress hormone that has made me develop "thyroid resistance". (Maybe my previous doctors exacerbated this condition by continually telling me I was fine!)
So, it just means it wouldn't matter how my thyroid medication I took, because it would never get to where it needed to go.You regenerate during sleep, but not if you don't sleep... I have had my 3.5 hour coma sleep every night for about a year. Cortisol apparently has remained dominant and the ruler...
He has prescribed a micronized progesterone pill, that will trump the cortisol. That will allow me to some sleep and also hopefully get rid of the "resistance"that's also half the battle of feeling good. I may even need to reduce my Armour. We'll see...
I had mentioned to my neurologist that even though I was taking so many meds, each of which was supposed to knock me out, I still wasn't sleeping. Light bulb moment for him. He orded a polysomnagram which showed severe sleep apnea. I've been using CPAP therapy for more than a year, and I'm now sleeping through the night, as well as feeling so much better in general. I litterally feel 20 years younger.
The first one said that he was falling asleep during the day. Well, to have slept with him and hear the buzz saw going and then stop and awaken me, was really nerve wracking and I did lose sleep then.
The second guy was working out on an oil rig. All of the rig mates worked opposite shifts so they didn't have to listen to him. I saw him a couple of years ago and he finally acknowledged that it wasn't just me. He didn't want a CPAP, but he is also now the proud owner and said he hadn't slept in years...and feels so much better.
