Hypothyroidism Support Group
Hypothyroidism is the disease state caused by insufficient production of thyrohormone by the thyroid gland. There are several distinct causes for chronic hypothyroidism, the most common being Hashimoto's thyroiditis and hypothyroidism following radioiodine therapy for hyperthyroidism. Advanced hypothyroidism may cause severe complications, the most serious one of which is...
Wanted to let you know someone heard you and understands.
Regulating can take a long time, I think I am finally there and I'm at year 7 or 8. It can also vary summer to winter and as we age.
What's helping:
Coconut oil in my morning and evening tea/coffee for my hair and nails along with gummy biotin. Lots of vitamin b12 for energy.
Eating small meals 6 times a day to keep energy stable.
Taking some of my t3 in the afternoon (huge help!).
Resting, pacing myself and being my own best friend...
Hoping your vent helped you feel better!
When I feel super yucky I try to find little things to do to pick me up emotionally (that don't involve a lot of effort, because I don't have it in me for effort). A bubble bath with candles, a good book, and wine. Or a movie night with my kids where we snuggle up together. Or a back rub from my husband...little things help sometimes.
I just tried to go for a walk down by the Hudson - we have a gorgeous park here in Tribeca - and could barely waddle there and back.
I am fighting back tears because my life is so small these days and I will need to cancel two social occasions this weekend that I had been planning for months.
My Serious Desk Job is making a lot of demands on me today, I am growling at everyone, and I am pretty much "out of spoons." I need to do laundry tonight and I don't see how I will get up the energy.
But.
I do feel surrounded by your empathy and care.
I hope we all stay in touch once we start to feel better.
Thanks from my heart.
xoxo
Just because something is labeled "adrenal support" does not mean it is appropriate for low cortisol.
I have to find another doctor. And with a $3,000 deductible, and with accumulated debt from my last year of medical adventures, I just can't afford to start a whole new round of testing and monitoring.
At this point, the best test is: "Do I feel like crap?" If yes, there is Something Wrong.....
I am going to start taking licorice supplements tonight because this is the only substance short of Cortef & its siblings that actually raises cortisol.
Wish me luck, Lovelies!!!
Just keep in mind, it effects every process when the hormones arent there. ie neurotransmitters.
The one I think I struggle with most is dopamine, pleasure in old activities, motivation and reward. Not to be confused with norepinephrine as I have anxiety issues and already get way to much adrenalin. I suspect my Gaba is naturally low. Yet i keep taking serotonin drugs (shrugs shoulders).
A large part of it for me is I take opiates for back pain, which mess majorly with dopamine.
So give yourself a break, you have a chemical break down in your body. Thats NOT your fault and you are perfectly normal.
And yeah it sucks but the more you learn to overcome it.
I know mine is a gut problem. I just dont know how to fix it as Ive tried all the holistic methods.
I have zero family, Ive disowned toxic relationships and Ive lost a lot along the way. I try to make my own family best I can being bed bound a lot of the time.
Chin up and box on, you can do this and you can find love and peace no matter where life leads you, to the top of the corporate chain or a life struggling to beat illness, if thats the worst case, there is love and happiness and support everywhere.
You can come vent here any time, we understand. You are so right, hardly anyone else will understand that fatigue and other crap we have to deal with. Hope you get some medical help that works for you soon.
((((Huge hugs))))
The reality is hahimotos is a very mis understood disease and due to lack of medical insight on such a common disease people have ventured of looking for holistical healing powers and spreading opinion and anecdotal evidence as fact.
so its very hard to know whats real and whats not.
ive never felt better in 10 years and i doubt i ever will. but ive come to the acceptance of this. thats the best step ive taken.
xo
i think i got so wrapped up in feeling sick and listening to holistic dogma that i forgot to live.
i have hashis, sjogrens, disc degeneration. constant chronic pain. i accept that now. now that i accept it, when those symptoms occur i dont go all obsessive about trying to fix it immediately. i just go easy on myself. even with illness life is beautiful.
