Dr. David Clark gives a series of videos explaining why it is important to dig deeper into the causes of the thyroid problems. He encourages patients to take charge of their own care, but knowledgeably, offering more than "Thyroid 101" etc. Very interesting and thought provoking.

Very interesting Fern. I do not have Hashimoto's but I know many people on this forum does. I was wondering what they might think of this information.

I wonder how many hypothyroid patients are even tested to be sure there is no autoimmune component.

That doctor certainly believes that a high percentage of hypothyroid patients have Hashi's.

It's a fact that most cases of hypothyroidism are autoimmune in nature and, most often, the cause is Hashi's.

SInce hypothyroidism is treated the same regardless of the cause, maybe that's why doctors don't bother to run antibody tests.
