Hypothyroidism Support Group
Hypothyroidism is the disease state caused by insufficient production of thyrohormone by the thyroid gland. There are several distinct causes for chronic hypothyroidism, the most common being Hashimoto's thyroiditis and hypothyroidism following radioiodine therapy for hyperthyroidism. FT4 Range= .82 - 1.77 ng/dL
Have them check your FT3 also.
Yours is rather low ON THE SCALE; this is why they won't help you. I've been at that range and not feeling well at all.
The famous lines that doctors give is usually "you're within range" so we'll go with the same treatment OR can't help you; you have to know how to fight for your health while in their office!
I suggest: DO A LOT OF R E S E A R C H and go to a doctor that really WANTS to help you; they are out there.
Ask a family member to help you understand this disease, the numbers, the symptoms, or have him or her go with you to your next appointment.
Keep a daily log of all of your symptoms, on charts, meal chart, weight chart, and one for all of your symptoms - of when they started, level of pain. Most definitely keep a copy of your blood work
For me, I was easily diagnosed because of my RED face; the doc walked in and said, nobody's face is that red, you have Lupus so she checked the thyroid and there it was. I had no idea that I had anything so it was a shocker even though I had all of the symptoms that you have but I associated them with Stress!
For me, to get additional help, I went online to find a list off all of the symptoms for HYPO; I discovered I had more than what I thought. I ended up with 19 symptoms from that list.
I made the doctor listen to all of them
I told her HOW EACH ONE affected my daily life.
I also said, you're not going to tell me that I'm within range, BECAUSE this result is not working for me as I can barely function in life.
I've also taught the doctors about the word "try". if this course of treatment doesn't work, we can try something else OR go back to what we were doing!
They also didn't care if this was a family history attached or not.
The problem, I've heard said, is that when you're really hypo, you have no fight in you, you're just blah, whateva... I think the docs take advantage of this fact..
