That the body with actually make more antibodies. - I've never heard that. I have Hashi's and am on Armour. I feel better on armour, I must say.

Thanks Butterfly. And I am glad that you feel better. Have you had your antibodies checked since taking the Armour? At this point, I guess I don't really care if it does increase the antibodies. Just as long as I can feel better than I do on Synthroid.

I think it is one of those myths doctors tend to believe in.

Thank you. I guess that I just needed to hear from others who have already done it. It is stressful having to change from something that was working so well for me to an unknown.

I used to be on Levoxyl and switched to Armour this past February.
I can tell you that I feel better on this even with the short amount of time I have been on it. If you find that your doctor gives you a hard time about switching, then you might want to try another one and give this a try because it is worth testing it out for yourself.

Glad to hear that you are doing better on Armour. Actually my doctor is great and does perscribe Amour to her patients. She just was worried that since I have had such a hard time with different medicines before that it might make me worse. I tried Armour a few years ago and did not do well on it. So today she is giving me an alternative to Armour in hopes that it won't effect me so badly.

Maybe with the Levoxyl being taken off the market I will find something that is better for me. It just needs patience until I can find it.

Yes, I have had them checked, and NO they did not increase.

Here's the thing to remember - it does NOT matter WHAT you take as long as WHAT you take STABILIZES your LEVELS.

Meaning, if Synthroid or other Free T4 meds stabilizes your Free T4 AND Free T3 levels, that's great. (Remember if you're on treatment TSH really shouldn't matter at all unless it's above 1).

Some people, like myself, have issues converting Free T4 to Free T3. I have two strikes against me - I have an auto immune disease other than HASHI's that interferes with T3 production AND I'm frequently on steroids which will interfere with metabolism of Free T4 to Free T3 in the liver (where 60% of free T3 is made).

My doctor was completely against using cytomel - because said dr wasn't "familiar" with it. So, I opted for something they were more familiar with - ARMOUR. Why? Because Synthroid balanced my Free T4 levels perfectly...my Free T3 was in the basement.

You will not feel well until both levels are within the target range.

Get copies of your labs, post them here, and we can help you balance them with the help of your doctor.

One last thing:

It will take a little time to balance - just as with synthroid and often there is a dip in Free T4 when you first begin Armour (because it has T3 in it). This will go away when you get on the proper dosage, but it's a pain in the beginning. You just have to stay the course.

Oh...and...DO NOT get all hung up on RT3. I did that. It's not worth it. RT3 will stabilize when your Free T3 does.

To be honest, I have not my levels checked in while. I was feeling fine and didn't see any reason.

I guess I will have to start being tested again every few months.
