hello. I have been on levothyroxine 150mcg for about 7 months I think. I was diagnosed about 6 years ao.. my last bloods were in July and were all fine. from may until July I lost half a stone in weight and then stayed put. I told my dr yesterday that I was really tired and had a pain in my neck and he aid I wasn't due for another month for bloods done. he never discusses my thyroid neither does the nurse. I'm fed up of it now but feel wrong to ask for a second opinion, but my thyroid is not under control because I only know how to take the tablets. I don't no much about the condition. I want a extended bloods work done but scared to ask.. I have oral allergy syndrome which ive heard it ma be something to do with thyroid and immune system, can somone tell me what I need to ask my dr and if these any symptoms related to thyroid. thanks

One of the other ladies on this board offered some advice recently that I really liked - she said she always takes a friend with her to her appointments. That way the friend can help her remember the different things she wanted to bring up with the doctor, help support her claims of not feeling well. And the doctors seem to be less dismissive when there's a witness in the room. Do you have a friend or spouse who can go along with you to your appointments and help you insist on further medical care?
Also, do you have the results of your most recent blood work and can you post the results here for us to look at? TSH, Free T3, and Free T4? You said you were diagnosed six years ago - what did they diagnose you with exactly? Hashimoto's, or general hypothryoidism?
Have you ever had an ultrasound done on your thyroid? If you're experiencing pain in that area I would recommend you push for one. You could have a nodule that's causing you problems. Other tests that you should demand, to fully check the condition of your thyroid, are Free T3, Free T4, TSH, and a thyroid antibodies panel including TPO and TSI.
What kinds of symptoms are you having besides the weight loss and pain in your neck?
