Hypothyroidism Support Group
Hypothyroidism is the disease state caused by insufficient production of thyrohormone by the thyroid gland. There are several distinct causes for chronic hypothyroidism, the most common being Hashimoto's thyroiditis and hypothyroidism following radioiodine therapy for hyperthyroidism. Advanced hypothyroidism may cause severe complications, the most serious one of which is...

Hang in there! Must be very nerve wracking.
One of two things is happening:
1) Your Dad is hypo and needs more meds and the hypo condition is creating/agitating "other health issues"
2) Your dad's "other health issues" are causing his thyroid to freak out and they need to be addressed BEFORE increasing the thyroid meds
I've had both situations happen to me.
I'm not sure how telling you that "he's already on a high dosage" helps in any way shape or form. I have a family member that's on a *really* high dosage of synthroid 300mcg and climbing, but as you age/as a Hashi's thyroid flames out...sometimes you just need more. Big whoop.
Keep us posted pls
we're headed to the appointment this afternoon -- was supposed to be thursday, but the doc had a meeting so it got rescheduled - lol, at least i won't worry til thursday ;)
i will keep you posted -- i know i'm probably making a bigger deal of it then t really is -- hehe, gotta love anxiety ;) i have all kinds of things running through my head --
will check back in later today -- thanks!
back from the docs --- yep, got myself all worked up for nothing to exciting. it seems my dad has more of hashimoto than just hypo. which the doc said is odd -- since it's more prevalent in women -- it's not to "bad" -- so they are going to add in another thyroid med with the synthroid -- a small dose, since he doesn't really have alot of "symptoms" -- so as to not fix something that isn't really broken to badly.
:) thanks for talking me off the ledge -- hehehe
