I am having trouble breathing and swallowing. I recently had an ultrasound of my thyroid and they said it was relatively unchanged sincce the previous ultrasound. Lately if i fall asleep in my recliner i wake up snoring and gagging. I wear a cpap at night and had to have my pressure turned up on that because i was starting to snore with it on!!! I am feeling very anxious about this and i dont know what to do. I was in the er this week and my blood pressure was high. I dont know what to think. It is making me anxious, which probably isnt helping my breathing. :(

TC40, this is the wrong group to bring this up, but I'm going to anyway. Have your calcium and PTH Intact checked. Probably nothing to do with your problems, supposed to be very rare, but it couldn't hurt. Hypothyroidism and Primary have a lot of similar symptoms.

Of course, the more knowledgeable here probably can help you right here. Maybe cd3764 or one of the other good ones are around.

They didn't say alot. Just that my tsh was 56, up from 46 three weeks ago AND after having my levo increased.

I can't address you issue about sleep apnea - but I can tell you that treatment for sleep apnea won't make your thyroid issues go away.

You need thyroid treatment and your body is telling you this along with your labs. A TSH of 46 should have been treated. The fact that it went up to 56 is telling you that your treatment is inadequate....and you most probably need an increase in meds.

I would request an increase in meds along with the following tests:
TSH
Free T3
Free T4

3 weeks ago still gives it 3-5 weeks to settle down some. So maybe there's some hope. It'll take 6-8 weeks to regulate itself to its new levels.

But my God! 46 and 56? Mine was just 4 something and I could hardly move. You must be made of strong stuff!

Yes, issues with sleep apnea can be caused by low thyroid hormones. Your tsh is way too high, could be the answer. Hope you can get on some meds or if you are, a high enough dose for you.
