Hypothyroidism Support Group
Hypothyroidism is the disease state caused by insufficient production of thyrohormone by the thyroid gland. There are several distinct causes for chronic hypothyroidism, the most common being Hashimoto's thyroiditis and hypothyroidism following radioiodine therapy for hyperthyroidism. Advanced hypothyroidism may cause severe complications, the most serious one of which is...
Have you tried accupuncture? Massage therapy? Some foods cause inflammation more than others, like dairy, gluten, meat.
I suspect your thyroid bloodwork is not OK...sorry.
You know we'll gladly help you interpret the results if you'd like to share them.
Hope you feel better soon!
I had over 20 hypo symptoms when I first started replacement back in March 2010.
As my dose was increased, I would have an improvement in some of the symptoms, a worsening of others....and the development of new ones.
I understood that this is what the body goes through as it adjusts to new levels of hormone.
I keep records of my "thyroid experiences" and one of those records includes any symptom I experienced since I've been treated. My hypo symptom list now contains a total of 40 different symptoms.
I'm thrilled to report that, once my levels were optimized, every...single....symptom dissipated.
Yes, I've had a few symptoms recur when my doctor didn't adjust my dose when my labs first showed the need.
However, the symptoms were relatively minor and didn't last long at all.
Sharing my symptoms journal as it related to my labs proved to my doctor just what my optimal levels are......it also showed her the "error of her ways" when she didn't adjust my dose soon enough
She has all her thyroid patients get labs every 8 wks. at the most.
As long as I continue to get labs regularly....and remind my doctor about the levels that keep me feeling great, I expect to stay feeling that way for a very long while.
I wish the same for everyone on here.
Snippy, you might want to see a neurologist about your hand. The ennervation of the fingers has a specific path. The pointer, middle, and half of the ring finger are supplied by the median nerve. The other half of the ring finger and all of the pinky finger are supplied by the ulnar nerve. I also had ulnar nerve transfer.
If all fingers are involved, it may be from a circulation issue. Are you diabetic? Just asking. Another thing that can have an adverse effect on your circulation is sleep apnea. If you do see a neurologist, ask about sleep apnea.
And you only have to "live with it" if you don't seek answers elsewhere.
Good luck Snippy. Keep us informed.
