Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) Support Group
The term hypoglycemia literally means "low blood sugar." Hypoglycemia can produce a variety of symptoms and effects but the principal problems arise from an inadequate supply of glucose as fuel to the brain, resulting in impairment of function. Derangements of function can range from vaguely "feeling bad" to coma and in the worst case, can be fatal.
I have had hypoglycemia since I was little. Its a challenge figuring it out and how to handle it all.
What i do in the mornings to get my blood sugar up is to drink some chocolate milk. Then throughout the day I try to eat things that have more protein in them to help keep my blood sugar up. I try to eat things like peanut butter toast, sandwiches. For snacks I try to eat veggies, and fruit. I try to eat really well to keep my blood sugar up. And if I know I am going to want something with more sugar then I make sure to eat something with more protein so that way my blood sugar won't all of a sudden drop.
It takes time to figure out what works best for you. I hope some of this helps you!
