Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) Support Group
The term hypoglycemia literally means "low blood sugar." Hypoglycemia can produce a variety of symptoms and effects but the principal problems arise from an inadequate supply of glucose as fuel to the brain, resulting in impairment of function. Derangements of function can range from vaguely "feeling bad" to coma and in the worst case, can be fatal.
I've cut out all caffeine and have very, very limited sugar (less than 10g) for snacks. I've been eating a lot of chicken, lean beef, shrimp, salads....
String cheese, celery, peanut butter/crackers, almonds, apples, Kashi cereal bars & trail bars I rotate out for snacks. However, I would break someone's legs for a glass of sweet tea and a double decker brownie right now! :)
I think the biggest thing I've learned is just to get in a groove. The first couple of weeks really were trying, but I've made the switch to decaf, kept my sweet tooth at bay, and I'm really starting to get the hang of really paying attention to what my body is telling me and I also started taking B12 at lunch and that's helped to balance out my energy level.
There are others on here waaaaaaay more informative about diets that I am, sometimes it just takes a few days for them to post.
Nuts & Seeds are the best emergency snack. Eggs, cheese, cottage cheese, beans, legumes, Lean meats, Whole Grain bread, most veggies (ditch the majority of the potatoes), fruit (lean toward cherries, most berries, pears [peaches are ok too]) are all good to go.
I'm still digging around on diet stuff as well, but like I said, there are some really knowledible folks on here that can probably help you a little more.
Have a great rest of the day! :)
