Hypochondria Support Group
Hypochondria refers to excessive worry about having a serious illness. Hypochondria is often characterized by fears that minor bodily symptoms may indicate a serious illness, constant self-examination and self-diagnosis, and a preoccupation with one's body. Many individuals with hypochondriasis express doubt and disbelief in the doctors' diagnosis.
I can relate I do the same thing get crazy in my head to the point I want relief and when I get in that state I feel alone but yet petrified that I am going to be sick
No matter what reassurance I may get I still think in the back of my mind there is still a tiny chance that they could be wrong -doctors included
I used to go to docs all the time now am the opposite the thought of going gives me horrible anxiety
I feel your pain it sucks !
It takes a strong person to open up and join a support group. You are making steps in the right direction!
You are definitely not alone; I can relate to your story and emotions on a very personal level. There are days where I fear that my chest pains are going to lead me into a heart attack, then there are days that I wish it would just happen already because I am sick of always being afraid! Sometimes this motivates me to get angry enough that I get up and think to myself, "F-you chest pains, and F-you life. I'm going to live and be happy just you try and stop me! If I'm going to have a heart attack, it might ad well be while I am enjoying myself."
I'm not sure if that thought process is healthy or not, but it definitely gets me out of bed for a while.
Anyways, we are all here for you, and we seem to have pretty similar experiences. As much as these experiences suck, at least we are not alone, right?
I had a cardiologist convince me that my very slow pulse and heart flutters were nothing to worry about and that I could exercise all I wanted... I remember jogging and sprinting that night trying to make my heart stop.. I felt great taking that F-you attitude! And I obviously did not die!
I am currently trying to tell my random muscle twitches to go F-themselves. "C'mon...I dare you to keep twitching!"
