Hypochondria Support Group
Hypochondria refers to excessive worry about having a serious illness. Hypochondria is often characterized by fears that minor bodily symptoms may indicate a serious illness, constant self-examination and self-diagnosis, and a preoccupation with one's body. Many individuals with hypochondriasis express doubt and disbelief in the doctors' diagnosis.
Hi, I wanted to leave a message today, because I’ve had a rough couple of weeks. I am worried about my son,(under 10) who had a medical issue that required him to go to a specialist. And while it seems like this will not be a big issue now, before the tests he had to have, I was worried that there was something really wrong with him. As my mind raced with the fear of him developing a disease, I tried to use my “toolbox” to calm my anxiety. Sometimes it worked, most other times not so successful. I pretty much have exhausted myself, both physically and mentally, so I’m sure my recent surge in anxiety is do to this. I feel guilty as I am supposed to be strong and support my child, but I feel so scared inside that something would happen to him, that I cry by myself because I can’t handle the situation. I can’t talk to my wife, as she doesn’t understand my anxiety disorder, so I feel alone and I’m having trouble this week digging out of my anxiety. This also stirs feelings of me getting sick and something bad happening to me. Again, I’m just using this forum as a release to get things off my chest, and to tell the truth. I’m frustrated that I can’t move past my own fears, and be a father that is stronger. I’m trying to be stronger, but Im coming up short. Thanks for listening.

I've lost 15 pounds and lost my appetite, but I'm really attached to him. We've had a lot of problems and I think that has caused me to gain severe anxiety. I don't know if I should wait until it gets better or what. Everytime I've blocked him, it has tend to make me...
