Hypochondria Support Group
Hypochondria refers to excessive worry about having a serious illness. Hypochondria is often characterized by fears that minor bodily symptoms may indicate a serious illness, constant self-examination and self-diagnosis, and a preoccupation with one's body. Many individuals with hypochondriasis express doubt and disbelief in the doctors' diagnosis.
I completely understand the feeling of being isolated. When I start to worry about my health, I feel trapped in my body, like I cant think of anything else or escape my mind. I've found a great trick that helps ground me, which I hope will work for you!
My therapist gave me this trick help me when I fall into a dissociative state. You close your eyes, identify something you can hear and something you can touch, and allow you mind to be filled with these two sensations. I also ask myself a bunch of questions about these objects: "These sheets are soft. What material are they? Where were they made? When were they made? Who made them? How is a bed sheet made?"
Maybe you can try this the next time you start to feel isolated? I hope it helps!
I will try how does this stop your mind after you have finished the exercise? It seems like something that can help me temporarily but the thoughts come back
