Hypochondria Support Group
Hypochondria refers to excessive worry about having a serious illness. Hypochondria is often characterized by fears that minor bodily symptoms may indicate a serious illness, constant self-examination and self-diagnosis, and a preoccupation with one's body. Many individuals with hypochondriasis express doubt and disbelief in the doctors' diagnosis.
I am also struggling. Currently, I am worried about my lungs and cannot shake the fear of something terrible until I see my doctor in a couple weeks.
I am fortunate to trust my doctors and I am able to accept what they tell me. I know others have trouble accepting what their doctors say and/or think something may be missed during their appointments. I know waiting is difficult for people like us, but thank goodness for biopsies, right? That will tell you exactly what is going on! You can't do anything until the biopsy to comes back. Most likely it is nothing and then you should have nothing to worry about. Read through here or check out no more panic to see how others feel. I think the lack of continuation by most posters here shows that fears fade and people find a way to put anxiety behind them. Please let us know how everything works out.
