Should I be as scared as I am?

I finally got the test results - well sort of on the anitbodies.
The Thyroglbulin AB was less than 20 with the range of less than 40 as normal, but the Microsomal AB they wre unable to perform due to a heterophilic interference which according to the tech I talked with this morning it means I have an antibody that restricted the test being done. I had another lab draw this morning but wonder if it will be the same result. .... What does this mean???

Did you get the antibodies tests called the TSI and the TRAb to find out if you have Graves' Disease?

It does not look like you have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis from the TgAb test.

Not that I am aware of. They had me draw again to redo the test that had the problem however from what I am understanding Dr needs to find another test or use another lab. I will ask about the tests you mentioned. Thanks so much.

They were able to get the results on the Hashi's test and it was normal - don't have the numbers as I don't have my copy of the test yet.. I asked about the antibodie tests you mentioned - Dr wasn't familiar with them so the lab is trying to figure out what they need to draw and where to send it - unbelievable. Anyway doing a thyroid ultrasound later this afternoon and a CT scan of the pituitary gland tomorrow. Will take probably a week for the blood tests when they get if figured out - at least I hope they can do the draw today. Can you think of anything else I should be asking or doing??

If the labs have a hard time with the names here they are:

TSI = Thyroid Stimulating Immunglobulins
TRAb = Thyroid Receptors antibodies

Where do you go for your labs?

Of course get the Free T3, Free T4, and TSH as well.

We have the TSI coming but most likely next week for results since its a send out. The lab still didn't understand the TRAb test so don't think that got done. Had a thyroid ultrasound which should no masses but some very small nodules. Dr decided to wait on the pituitary mri as I got my endo appointment moved up to next week. What's really weird is the when they did the Hashi's anitbody test the first time it came back that I had antibodies that interferred with the test. Did it a second time and it came back normal - haven't seen the report yet so not sure what those numbers are. I asked the lab at the time if the results would be the same if its truly an antibody issue and he said most likely yet it came back different - totally beyond me. Hopefully will have an answer when I see Endo but suspect she will order all new tests.
