I've lived with hyperthyroidism over 5 years and who knows how many years prior.
You didn't say if you were diagnosed with hyperthyroidism... Sounds like you need a physical/blood work to see what else is going on.
There really isn't life after Hyper - I'll have it forever. I lost weight but not excessively. Now I put it all back on. My heart rate - out of control around 155 and irregular. I had stamina that wouldn't quit. No sore eyes - I don't have the Grave's stuff. I could tolerate alcohol but don't drink any more.
Really - get to a doctor (endocrinologist) and get some blood work done. Post your levels on here and someone can guide you. I've found you can't come here for a solution. You can, however, talk to others who live with this.
Sorry i didn't state it clearly but i highly suspect I have hyper thyroidism for a long time only went to the doctor last week and currently awaiting blood test results, should take about a week. Thank you for your reply
Your symptoms in the top paragraph sound like Hyper symptoms.
But that's why the blood test results with the ranges will tell more, when you get the results if you can post, both result and ranges.
Symptoms can be different, and some can be similar, that's where again the results and ranges help out, cause then every 4 to 6 weeks blood test should be done again, to see if increase in med or decrease in med, and repeat again all of this over and over.
If not you will end up in HypO / hell land.
------------------------------
1. I slowly started losing weight before being diagnosed Hyper...but some gain.\
2.I loss muscle tone after being medicated into HypO/ hell.
3.Hum, sleep less after treatment...I now sleep through the night, tiredness has not been fun with treatment Hyper then medicated into Hypo. Naps/ crash tried ness, ugh...That's why treatment and every 4 to 6 weeks blood test are important to have the correct dose of med.....plus a Dr who know how to treat the condition.
4. Alcohol tolerance...could be the Thyoid cause it 's what metabolize even med it can affect the metabolizing until corrected.
5.Stamia: gasping for breath, yep, if it is the Thyroid that will correct,
6. Mood: yep, if it is the Thyroid that will correct...again as long as you have the correct treatment one heck of a good doctor.
If a good doctor ends up treating you, then I see no reason as to why your future wouldn't be brighter....cause many of your symptoms should improve!
My situation has not been brighter, Dr medicated me fast into HypO/ hell and it is a slow climb back out of this hole and insure if I will ever be 100% out of the hole.
But some thyroid conditions can be temporary and don't require meds.
There are even sites that once you get your results can even help and get all kinds of education advice etc..
I just hope your doctor ordered the 'right' thyroid labs - Free T3, Free T4, and TSH, at least. Hoping also for the thyroid antibodies of the TSI and the TRAb for checking of Graves' Disease.
Since Graves' Disease is an autoimmune disease, the best line of treatment is taking the ATD (antithyroid drug) as it does have some immunosuppressant properties in reducing the thyroid antibodies.
I am on a very low dose ATD, I take the MMI (Methimazole) as I have the past 11+ years now. I have several auotimmune diseases so the best course for me is to take the MMI, clean up my diet as well with what household and personal products are used in order to reduce the thyroid antibodies and the antibodies of my other AI diseases.
So far so good and I have remained stable and even have been able to take way less MMI (1.25 mg per day).
