There have been times where my dosage was high, and I would pull muscles real easy..and one time broke out in hives. Things are under control now though, I take 10mg a day. How's it working for you?

This is my drug of choice! I would much rather be on methimazole for a dozen years than do the RAI or surgery! I was on 30 mg initially, then dropped down to 10, then 5 for 4 years and felt great! Then, after my sister died, which was very stressful, my thyroid started going into overdrive again and the doc had to increase me to 10mg in Jan and then to 15mg in May. But as my grief has subsided, Thank YOU, God!, and I feel more stable emotionally, he has been able to reduce me to 10mg a month ago and I anticipate going back to 5 mg again soon. I don't mind the up and down as I prefer that to the other options.
I plan to remain on it for many more years until, hopefully, I can wean my way off. In Europe, I understand, the longer you take the drug (10 - 15 years), the more likely you are to have a normal functioning thyroid, that will stay that way, when you go off the drug.
I praise God that my case was not so bad that the methimazole couldn't be effective or safe and I praise God for the option of it rather than the other treatments!
