I am having thyroid uptake scan with imaging to confirm Graves tomorrow. I know splitting meds has been recommended for the thryroid meds what about the betablocker? I am on 25 mg antenol as well as htz water pill for BP. I am taking the antenol at night and the htz in the morning but within 2 hours of the htz I feel really light headed so wondered about taking 1/2 a pill of the antenol at night and the other in the morning?
I'm not sure why it's necessary to get an uptake to confirm for Graves' when a simple antibody test called the TSI will do this? I refused to take a radiation pill and get a scan. I would allow an ultrasound and a FNA (Fine Needle Aspiration) if I had gotten to that stage.
You might to tell your doctor you are having symptoms from taking the HTZ.
I have split up the Atenolol for myself to the AM and 12 hours later for the PM.

Dr said it was to confirm even though I did have TSI done. I left my copy of the report with her as the referral dr and lab did not forward
any of the tests they were suppose to. I had an ultrasound but no nodules just darkening of areas of the thyroid. I have taken the HTZ for years so its the atenolol that I am having trouble with - started taking it Thurs evening. I am a total light weight when it comes to taking meds so will try the split and see what happens. At least I've been sleeping with taking the Atenolol at night. Sure wish I had the TSI to tell you what it said - I just don't remember.
