Hyperthyroidism Support Group
Hyperthyroidism (or "overactive thyroid gland") is the clinical syndrome featuring weight loss (often accompanied by a ravenous appetite), fatigue, weakness, hyperactivity, irritability, apathy, depression, polyuria, and sweating. Additional symptoms may include palpitations and arrhythmias (notably atrial fibrillation), dyspnea, loss of libido, nausea, vomiting, and...
I thought I would pop in and let you know from the things you have shared. Thank you for thinking of me as of a great help and you do help others when you let them know about the diet 'triggers', your own experiences from them and how the foods/drinks affects you...! :-)
As for the TSH... remember you do not want to look at it because no matter whether you have Graves' Disease, any other type of thyroid disease, TSH is still not a reliable test to have done and to look at the results. It is affected by thyroid antibodies and it is a Pituitary hormone. No thyroid med or even antithyroid med has an affect on the TSH and it cannot be used to adjust these meds by.
So therefore, just look at the Free T3 for the beta blocker you take and the Free T4 for the antithyroid drug (ATD) you take to adjust these meds to. Your doctors should not look at the TSH...if they are, run away and find the ones who looks at the Free Ts.
Here is a link from a hypOthyroid website which accurately explains why the TSH is useless. Even though this website talks about hypO only, the tests done are the same for those of us who are currently hypER and benefits us:

As for the Metoprolol you take, it has to be weaned down very, very slowly. Your doctor did you disservice by yanking you down too fast and too quickly. When I weaned from my beta blocker, it was done over in several months period - like six months.
Keep that handy dandy notebook out and keep writing anything you have eaten which has had an affect on your Free T3 levels to get it back down to mid ranges so you feel better. At the high end we can still feel bad. See what else in your diet is still keeping that FT3 up.
{{{hugs}}} :-)
