Hello all! I have had anxiety all my life, but over the last few years it has gotten worse. Back in May my doctor checked my thyroid profile and my T3 was elevated. The other thyroid numbers were considered normal. My doctor did not feel any further testing was necessary and no referral to an endocrine doctor was made. I seem to have all the classic symptoms on hyperthyroid- anxiety, nervousness, weight loss, sleep problems, and lately i have my anxiety has been so bad that i feel like i am going crazy. I would gladly appreciate any advice anyone could give me. Thanks!!
I hope it was the Free T3 and the Free T4 that were tested. I don't know how elevated the T4 was, but if it was outside the high end lab reference range, then an ATD (antithyroid drug) would be prescribed for this.
Since your labs have been awhile, insist to the doctor to reorder the FT3, FT4, and TSH to see where you are at now to see if any meds are needed.
