Hyperparathyroidism Support Group
Hyperparathyroidism is overactivity of the parathyroid glands resulting in excess production of parathyroid hormone (PTH). Increased PTH consequently leads to increased serum calcium (hypercalcemia) due to 1) increased bone resorption, allowing flow of calcium from bone to blood, 2) reduces renal clearance of calcium, and 3) increases intestinal calcium absorption.
I have Osteopenia also and experience similar pain in my hips especially when standing from sitting. If you've had past trauma to these areas due to injury that will also need to be taken into consideration for the cause of pain. I had a shattered clavicle during my late teens and still have shoulder rotation/flexibility issues.
Most people who have had HPT disease report feeling a relief from skeletal/muscular pain shortly after surgery. If you continue to have pain and your Ca/PTH levels are normal then another cause for your issue may need to be examined.
I definitely hope things improve with a minimal amount of time. Dealing with that sort of pain can limit your desire and enjoyment for daily activities. I wish you the best.
