Primary hyperhidrosis is the condition characterized by abnormally increased perspiration, in excess of that required for regulation of body temperature. Some patients afflicted with the condition experience a distinct reduction in the quality of life. Sufferers feel at a loss of control because perspiration takes place independent of temperature and emotional state.
I had the surgery for my hands a few years ago and it's changed my life... I still sweat excessively but it's in more normal spots to sweat now, and I think really the thing that's made the most difference is being able to touch people... It was so sad for me to be deprived of that... That's why for me the surgery was such a life changer... I remember waking up everyday for at least a year after my surgery with a smile and saying I'm Soo grateful that my hands don't sweat anymore...when I woke up from the surgery, I remember trying to make my hands sweat and I couldn't.... It was an unreal experience, I almost cried... I'll never forget that...especially as I had just figured out I what HH was a few months before...The first time after my surgery I went on a date I was Soo happy to b able to hold hands I didn't wanna let her hand go... She prob thought I was insane haha...Now I'm always celebrating it by giving high fives and handshakes or holding hands on a date... I'm so grateful to have that human connection, it's helped me Soo much, I still have my days.. I live in az, when it's 125 your gonna sweat haha but I find I don't worry as much now, and those days seem to get fewer and farther between all the time...If anyone has question about the surgery I don't mind answering...I really hope that my story can help anyone... The surgery has got its down sides and maybe isn't for everyone, but I would do it a million times over again and wish I had sooner....

I also had ETS surgery when I was in high school, about 12 years ago. It worked wonders for my palmar HH, and underarm HH. My feet, however, still sweat tremendously, and as a result of the surgery, I suffer from compensatory and gustatory sweating. I recommend ETS if all other options have failed. ETS can be different for everyone. The gustatory sweating only occurs in less than 1% of ETS surgery patients, and of course, I ended up in the less than 1% and suffer from this on a daily basis. The compensatory sweating gets very frustrating at times, because all other areas of my body now sweat way too much even in cold temperatures. My back, legs, chest, face, you name it. I found out about Robinul last year when visiting with my Dr and he prescribed it and it worked great. It reduced my sweating significantly and also reduced the gustatory sweating so I can eat my favorite foods without being a wet mess afterwards. I just recently found out I am pregnant so I stopped taking the Robinul and of course the sweating has come back. Would love to know if there are any pregnant HH sufferers out there that are pregnant, or have been pregnant and what they did to deal with HH naturally.

honestly the surgery is the best thing that has ever happened to me, ove night i went from feeling like i couldnt touch anyone and being so alone to feeling exited to date and hold girls hands... i still sweat alot but i build things and weld for a living and people dont seem to think anything of it.. some people sweat alot thats something that people accept but the sweating out of the hands is something that i coulodnt deal with... i love it and i hope my experience can help others... john2223 if u have any question or anything id be happy to let u know more anytime...
