Hyperhidrosis Support Group
Primary hyperhidrosis is the condition characterized by abnormally increased perspiration, in excess of that required for regulation of body temperature. Some patients afflicted with the condition experience a distinct reduction in the quality of life. Sufferers feel at a loss of control because perspiration takes place independent of temperature and emotional state.
Can anyone really relate to my struggle?
Do you have to carefully pick out clothing when shopping due to your HH issue?
I will mostly wear tops with some type of print or the underarm part has to be black or white so nothing can show. It is embarrassing to talk about this with you who understand so just imagine telling people who've never even heard of HH or think it really isnt as big of an issue as WE know it is.
Cant enjoy memorable moments?
I couldn't even enjoy graduation because the whole entire time I'm thinking about sweating and of course you try not to think about it to prevent the sweating but does that actually work? No. I was worried that once I got up to receive my degree everyone would see me sweating through my gown. It was the worse feeling ever.
Worried about dating?
I have only told one guy about my HH issue and he understood and really didn't care but that may have a lot to do with him just being the understanding type in general. What about telling someone who doesn't quite understand? What if they take it lightly? To me my situation is very, very serious. Dating can be scary.
Family and friends brush it off ?
My own mother doesn't quite understand fully what I go through and how stressful it is to me. Sometimes I am really down about it but other times I just say to myself it is what it is. Right now there really isn't much I can do about it. :/

My worst phobia has got to be haircuts, especially when the hairdresser is attractive. Usually end in a puddle of sweat and getting a look of ridicule.
But all that is controllable now. Done tons of research and found some things that work. You can get do something about it too!
