Hyperhidrosis Support Group
Primary hyperhidrosis is the condition characterized by abnormally increased perspiration, in excess of that required for regulation of body temperature. Some patients afflicted with the condition experience a distinct reduction in the quality of life. Sufferers feel at a loss of control because perspiration takes place independent of temperature and emotional state.
Thanks for your reply! I search and search and search on the internet fo answers in regards to hyperhidrosis in general, especially hyperhidrosis in pregnancy. Of course Dr's say do this and do that but sometimes these things just don't help. I sit at a computer all day for work- I work in a clinic and sometimes the temperatures get high because everyone else is complaining how cold they are, when I am on fire! Have you ever taken any medications for your HH? I have been taking Glycopyrrolate (Robinul) for over a year now and it worked great for my HH to reduce the sweating in my face, back, and legs. My feet were still sweaty but I could tolerate that. Of course Glyco is considered a Category C for pregnancy which means they have no evidence that it is safe for pregnancy so I am VERY nervous to keep taking it. I stopped taking it the day I found out I was pregnant and I am already suffering from my HH. I use a small fan daily and keep it on me and try to stay cool with ice water and going to my car to sit in the AC on lunch break. I take cold showers too but I mostly struggle at work, and if I am out running errands. I really don't want to take my Glyco and take the risk of it harming the baby. Have you heard of any other ways to cope with HH in pregnancy? I am only 6 weeks and already suffering from HH and it is dead winter here in WISCONSIN! Any suggestions would be welcome please!!
Good luck and maybe consider seeing a therapist to help with the relaxing. That helped me a great deal as well.
Much strength to you!
Anne
Your post is defnitely helpful because you have been through it- pregnancy and all. I am doing ok so far because I live in WI so it is winter right now. Nice and cold when I get outside. I am only 7 weeks pregnant right now, so, not much discomfort in the belly yet.
I usually have a fan on me at work most of the time and try to stay cool that way. Summers are the worst of course and I will be my biggest then. I am trying not to worry about something that is months away and hasn't happend yet but it is on my mind. I have been super tired and like you said, don't give a fuck because I just want to go home and lay down :) I have being researching natural ways to help reduce sweating and I found that apple cidar vinegar, mixed with regular natural vinegar a day can help. I haven't quite tried it yet but it gives me hope that there may be other things out there to help. Just nervous about my whole pregnancy but trying to take it one day at a time and worry about it when it happens. Just hope that my baby doesn't have HH when they grow older like me. I have had it my whole life, I even remember in Kindergarten drawing or coloring, and my hands were so sweaty, the whole paper would be drenched. I was only 5! Thanks for your replies!
Just a quick question, I have just found that my wife has HH on hands and feets, we are planning a family soon, can someone please advise if HH is a genetical diseases i.e., will it affect the new born baby ?
Look forward to hear back from you.
