I received Botox treatment to the underarms in December. It worked great for about 63 days then I started noticing that I was staining through shirts again. I have switched insurances since then and now my new insurance won't cover any of the costly treatment. Botox to the underarms is also one of the most painful things I have ever experienced. It is embarassing to have this problem in the first place. However, I have been happy with the results of it I just wish it would last longer!

Did you try any other treatment before resorting to Botox, Pansej? I am considering Botulin Toxin for my hyperhidrosis on hands, but I'm also figuring out how I can get my insurance company to help with the cost.

Sorry I did not post sooner. With my last insurance company I had to go through and meet a list of criteria before they would even consider letting me try the botox. I went through oral medications and antiperspirants which gave me rashes. Then after trying each of those my doctor sent a letter to my insurance saying that Botox was the next step for me. It took about 6-7 months before they approved for me to set up the Botox appointment. If you get this done, make sure you get the medical billing code and check with your insurance company to see if it is covered. Botox is very expensive my shots would have cost me $1600 but insurance covered all but $132 of it. I hope this works for you. Let me know.

I would love to recommend Botox to anyone suffering from palmar HH. I have been seeing a neurologist for about 6 months now who performs this procedure. I would say it decreases my palmar sweating about 95%. Here is the deal though, it HURTS a lot! I get about 30 injections in each palm/fingers. Also, for me, the results wear off pretty quickly, about every 2-3 months (not 6-9 as my dr. said he usually sees). Anyway, it is a HUGE improvement and has brought me a lot of relief from an incredibly debilitating condition. My heart goes out to all of you fellow sufferers. Oh yeah, one more thing, it does negatively affect the muscles in my fingers and hands. My fingers are much weaker, I have a hard time gripping things and fine motor skills are difficult. But, the drawbacks are VERY minor in comparison to the relief. I'd be happy to talk to anyone more about this.

I am a fanatical raving supporter of this new hyperhidrosis topical spray from Klima antiperspirant. It says it lasts up to 5 days and is supposed to be a last resort before Botox. It works GREAT for me, and I wish they would have made it sooner.
