Pregnancy possibilities

Hello everyone. I am getting to that age when I feel the need to start a family, but I am concerned about the possibility of pregnancy when health is so volatile.


Has anyone here been pregnant with hydrocephalus? How does the condition affect a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby? 


Do you struggle as a parent? 


The thing that worries me most is that I never know when I will be down again. Our experience with hydrocephalus has been a bit rocky.


I just want to know if having the condition would make it harder on the hypothetical kiddo. Especially if I end up on the single mother path.

Hi Dobhar-chu, I am 50 yr and had my 2 children at the age of 26 yr. I have congenital hydrocephalus (since birth) with 14 shunt revisions up to 16 yrs of age. I had very good pregnancies and can say I thrived with being pregnant, except for some bad headaches towards the end of the pregnancy. I was like a pin cushion in the early stages with doctors taking blood test more than the normal but for a good reason. My children have grown up to be very healthy and happy children they are now aged 21 and 24 years.
I have been a single parent for approx 12 years now. My main health ailment generally was severe headaches (due to scar tissue) but approx 3-4 years ago saw a neurologist who prescribed lyrica (pregabalin) which improved the severity of my headaches greatly.
