Hope everyone is well!
So a lot of people say HPV is normal...
In all honesty I don't know what it even is 100%
Can someone give me an idea?
I'm 20 years old...at the begining of the year I had my first pap smear.
It came back saying I have CIN1 and HPV and need a re-peat pap smear in 1 year.
I also have Endometriosis and have a lot of kidney issues.
So any thoughts/details? Greatly appreciated :)

I have no clue what this all means...
Here is the explanation as best as I understand it. CIN stands for "cervical intraepithelial neoplasia". Basically abnormal cells (larger funky shaped and multiplys faster than healthy cervical cells) on the surface and into the opening of your cervix. CIN is broken down into 3 levels: 1, 2, and 3. If your cells get to 4, you have cancer. A lot of times, CIN 1 cells heal on their own and you never need anything more than pap smears every 6 months. They will either go away, stay the same, or get worse. If it goes to CIN 2 or CIN 3, you will need to have the cells removed via cryotherapy, laser, LEEP or conization.
LSIL means that the "skin cells" of the cervix are affected. The other possible diagnosis is ASCUS which means that the glandular cells of the cervix are affected. LSIL is generally slower growing than ASCUS.
Also, my doc said that I need to be seen every 6 months vs 1 time a year for a pap. It could be because I'm 31, have a bunch of kids, and am taking immunosuppressants for a different chronic disease. If you are in your 20's, and otherwise healthy maybe he is right that you come back once a year. I would recommend going every six months until you've had a normal pap. After a normal pap or two, you should feel safe with annual checkups.

It was my first ever pap smear... Im not otherwise healthy unfortunately! =( My mum has had a few stints of having to have things cut and burnt off because of pap results but she was in her 30's also.
Guess it was just an unlucky pap, hopefully when I go back in Jan things are brighter :)I really can't deal with any more health issues on my plate!
