It took 5 months before any symptoms had popped up. I was with this guy who was just a "sex buddy" and we stopped having sex in dec. And as of Jan I had gotten a test for typical stis and stds just to be sure but nothing came up. Well I ended up meeting a guy that I knew years ago from school and we hit it off. We are together as of now, well I had these bumps (gential warts) that started and I wasn't aware of what it was and figured it was in grown hairs. Well it turned out not to be and I talked with my partner about it to find out that he was a virgin when we had gotten together. I feel like such a horrible person to have given it to him and can't wrap my head around the fact that I now have this and I just may have ruined his life as well. I had no idea that I had it, He says it's okay and we will work through this and is very supportive. But I feel disgusted with myself. He has no symtoms yet. And we've been having sex since march. (Stopped the past month) Does he have to get the hpv shot? What should he do? I've already been treated with chemicals to clear my outbreak. Does it also mean that genital warts are a lifetime thing? I'm so confused but don't want to talk to anyone around me about it.
I got my genital warts from a guy who used me as a past time before going back to his own country. He did not tell me he is a carrier of HPV. I feel so stupid as I did not ask and did not do precautionary measures. I also felt disgusted and ashamed of myself. I felt I am categorized as a slut or a prostitute since it is an STD associated with that kind of work. But I just keep thinking that it is only a skin disease, only HPV, and not HIV which is more dreadful. I hope your boyfriend doesn't get infected. There is a chance he will not show symptoms of warts but he may be a carrier as most men are. I'm not sure if the vaccine can prevent him from getting the kind of hpv that you have. But I know he can still receive anti-HPV shots to prevent him from other kinds of HPV strains especially the ones that can cause cancer. You can talk to a doctor for more info. Your boyfriend should make his immune system strong by taking vitamins and food supplements, and also doing exercise to prevent developing the warts... you can do that too. Hpv is lifetime but the warts is not, depends on your immune system. So protect yourself.
As for me, I'm still getting by. Hope we get through this. It's like learning to accept it like having a scar.
Your boyfriend may become a carrier of HPV. Most men does not show symptoms. But since you already had intercourse he may be infected already, you get it from skin to skin contact, although he will not show signs of warts as of the moment. You can ask a doctor since I'm not an expert on this.
