HPV Support Group
Human papillomavirus is a diverse group of DNA-based viruses that infect the skin and mucous membranes of humans. More than 100 different human papillomavirus (HPV) types have been characterized. Some HPV types cause benign skin warts, or papillomas, for which the virus family is named. HPVs associated with the development of such "common warts" are transmitted...

I wanted to just thank you for your post. I was diagnosed with high risk HPV in February of this year, they did a colpolscopy which showed that I had a bit of dysplasia. Fast forward 6 months, they did another pap that showed it had advanced a bit. I'm scheduled for another colpolscopy where they will take a biopsy. The doctors mentioned the Leep procedure as a treatment if the results dont come back in my favor. I'm really scared about what comes next, I seriously feel sick about it. I've never had any health problems....ever but I guess all I can do is roll with the punches. I don't want this to plague my life. Do you find yourself thinking about it all the time?
It's nice to know I'm not alone in this, it definitely brings me comfort. Thanks for listening. I am here if you ever want to talk about what you're experiencing.

I did find myself thinking about this ALOT! Actually driving myself crazy in the beginning. Luckily, I have a awesome doctor who is very comforting. I didn’t have any health problems before this either, besides anxiety which made me feel worse about this diagnosis. You’re definitely not alone, a lot of people are diagnosed with this, and many people don’t even know they have it! The LEEP procedure was not bad at all. Friday will be a week, I’m just having a little bit of bleeding (ok wearing panti liners), I didn’t experience any pain/cramping at all after the procedure. I’ve seen a lot of people scared and worrying about the cost associated with treatments. I try not to think about the money because my health is more important. Try to stay positive! I’m always here to talk as well, thank you for commenting! ❤️❤️❤️
Ffwd to now, 2nd abnormal pap...hpv still shows up. Now I'm still freaked out...worried and angry: why isn't my body clearing this? Now it's back for a 2nd colposcopy...yuck. I was told it was the high risk for cancer variety of hpv...awesome. (sarcasm). I'm going back and forth between:
1. Hpv means cervical cancer, which means you're going to get it and die.
And
2. You go for paps every year and you take care of yourself...even if there's a problem, you've likely caught it early.
Ugh...I'm a mess.
I know I shouldn't feel this way, but I feel gross. Another poster mentioned feeling low and dirty and that's exactly how I feel! Why? How is this any different from getting any other virus? If I had, say, the flu virus, I wouldn't say I felt low and dirty. I feel like I'm being punished for having sex...hpv is my punishment.
I'm even too afraid to join a Facebook support group for hpv. Why? Because it will show up as a group I joined and then my family and friends are going to wonder why I joined it. This is more private. I hate that I'm even thinking this way.
Trying to stay positive also.
