Actually, I would welcome everyone at any stage if they would like to chat.

It was probably insensitive for me to say only newly diagnosed, so I apologize. I had a bad experience with being told to google my diagnosis from an unhelpful nurse and immediately finding a lot of horror stories of people that went through dozens of surgeries and never recovered, or those that developed cancer and it was terrifying. I just want to keep hope alive for each other, but I think that's why we are all here.

Yeah, I've had it for almost 3 years and have been through countless painful procedures & surgeries. I got it from a man who I was engaged to. But I've been single for over a year now. I also have both strains. Dating is extremely hard & it can get very depressing & lonely at times, so it'd be nice to have a regular chat. They people here are very supportive (I'm relatively new, but it has helped me a lot.)

It can be frustrating because the amount of research and info out there about HPV is not too concrete.

It makes me mad sometimes, doctors and/or scientists tend to overlook HPV and don't consider it to be that serious in most cases.

The reason that your HPV may still be persisting is because you have two strains of the virus. Sometimes people who have multiple strains take a longer time to clear. Clearing the wart causing strain takes less time than the high risk strain but eventually the immune system will be able to clear it regardless.

All the people who have had infections for long periods of time or who have has multiple treatments could be because either they are not taking care of themselves properly, having more unprotected sex acquiring more hpv strains, just general things like that.

Ive read countless times that the immune system will eventually clear the infection, whether it clears the virus itself or not i am not sure.

I say, as long as you clear the infection you're good. Obviously if you clear the infection which is caused by the virus itself means that the immune system has done something to prevent the virus to cause anymore symptoms or outbreaks if you will.

Eventually, with any research thats being done i would say that there will be a antiviral cure sometime in the future. There has actually been a novel breakthrough on the approach to curing viral infections, you can read it up: "MIT Draco drug". This drug has shown to cure up to 15 viruses or more in infected mice also in human cells. The only downside is that it may take time for the drug to get licensed so that it may get to human clinical trials.

I, however, remain hopeful for the future for there being some sort of cure for the virus which is already being developed somewhat. Until then, i am being wishful for clearing the virus itself in my system so that it is no longer transmissible and it will no longer cause anymore outbreaks.

Yea sure it does suck, i mean no one wants to deal with anything like genital warts or something that might eventually cause any type of cancer but i say remain hopeful and do why you gotta do. The moment we had our initial outbreak was the moment that we were thrown into a battle internally. Doesn't mean we will have HPV for life dealing with outbreaks just means that we are fighting and doing whatever we can to win so we can have our bodies back to "normal."

Don't worry, i understand that it may be upsetting but thats just because of the stigma that comes with HPV. I don't want to be harsh to certain individuals or come as offensive but at least HPV isn't like herpes or HIV right? HPV can and will eventually be taken care of by our immune system. So its not like we will just sit there in constant fear of a recurrence, we can actually get up and do something about it by being healthy.

I'm sure you've heard of chicken pox, once we get it we have it forever. Most people don't think much of it because it gets cleared from our bodies and we don't ever have to deal with it again, same goes for HPV. Both Chicken-pox and HPV are viruses that can be taken care of by our immune system.

Please hang in there and don't lose hope, i know its easier said than done but what isn't.

Cervical cancer only happens in women who don't treat themselves of the infection, and cancer takes up to 10 years or more to develop so its not something that happens right away. It happens if infections persist and are left untreated but in your case you are doing something about it.

I myself am a male, theres not much research done on males relatiing to HPV and how males are called "carriers" of the virus. Makes me really mad. Hell, i didn't have the virus i got it from some girl. It goes both ways.

Don't pay attention to the ridiculous "horror" stories over the internet. Most people who clear the virus or infection never come back online to talk about it with the community, if they do it will only be a few people. I wouldn't want to come back to something that reminds me of HPV especially if i got rid of it but thats just me.

Its been 3 years but I'm sure your recurrences as well as the amount of warts have decreased. If such a complicated virus such as herpes can eventually lead to less outbreaks and less painful sores with time than a common and simple virus such as HPV can just be gone for good.

We live in a day and age where there is not enough info on the treatment and cures for viruses but we are progressing to that point everyday.

Just as Penicilin was discovered to cure bacterial infections, we will have a drug that will cure viral infections.

There still is the chat bar on the right, but I was hoping to start more of a group chat. I've used Paltalk Express before and it's kind of nice because it's a group chat and you can use your mic or type, whichever you're more comfortable with. I'm hoping that kind of connection could do even more to help the feeling of alienation from not being able to actually talk to many people about this, while still providing the anonymity that an in-person support group wouldn't have. It's just an idea though!

Griever seems we are both males ! While you have the low risk hpv with warts I have the high risk one ! I ve been urinating a lot for three months now . Wonder if this ever will stop! Seeing a doctor tomorow again! I know that that can treat you for the utis cause by the strain but it will come back everytime causing recurrences .I m actually no fan of antiboiticas since it breaks down your immune system.

JohanH - Its always good to share and get to know what other males are going through with HPV since theres barely any research or data on men.

even the 70% clearance rate in one year and the 90% clearance rate in 2 years is a research in women, this data had no males in their statistics. Also, from what I've read, women tend to have a better immune system than men.

How are you sure you have the high risk strain? From my understanding, men cannot be tested for HPV. It really is frustrating honestly, how the heck will we ever know what we have or strain we carry?

I heard that any form of penile cancer by HPV is very rare. How are you sure that this can be any of that? Maybe your frequent urination is something else. Its always good to get a different opinion from another doctor.

Griever the only reason why it can be is cause the frequent urinating started two weeks after I slept with my ex girfriend who was diagnosed with the high strain HPV and went for a biopsy. Ive been tested neg for HIV Syphillis . I was given two different antiboiticas and Ibunate(ibufren) It stopped but the came back again! Went to see Dr again but was not given any medication! He asked me if I have any pain, burning or blood when passing urine so I said no , so he did not prescribe any medication , but was told to come back only if any of these symptoms appears, According to him my urine is clear and clean ,

Don't worry, i been through a lot of scare and anxiety with this damn hpv business too.

You can clear the infection, except you're lucky you don't have to deal with the damn warts. And if you're ever worried about passing the strain to anyone, just make sure they get the gardasil shot.

Penile cancer is extremely rare. I wouldn't worry about it. Are you circumcised? if you don't mind me asking. I know circumcision reduced many risks.

I would like to chat also! Count me in please :) It'd be great to get a group together to chat regularly about this. I am having a really hard time coping. Its been 3 months since I noticed my GW and 2 since official diagnosis and treatment.

I would love to be able to chat with others. I just received an abnormal pap and think it would be helpful to be able to chat with people who have been going through the same thing.
